If you are searching for academic resources such as books and journal articles in an academic database or search engine, there will often be an automatic citation option. This will give you a formatted reference or citation in styles such as APA and Harvard that you can put into your reference list or bibliography.
Look for quotation marks in most places such as Library Search, ProQuest and Google Scholar, or the word "cite" in EBSCO.
