Evidence-based practice
What is evidence-based practice?
Evidence-based practice (EBP) in urban design and planning involves the systematic use of empirical research and data to inform and guide the development of urban environments. This approach integrates the best available evidence with professional expertise and stakeholder input to create sustainable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing urban spaces. By relying on rigorous research and proven methodologies, urban planners and designers can make informed decisions that enhance the quality of life for residents, promote environmental sustainability, and address complex urban challenges. EBP ensures that urban development is grounded in scientific knowledge, leading to more effective and resilient urban solutions.
Evidence portals
- Evidence for Nature and People - Data portalThe Evidence for Nature and People Data Portal is an open-access online knowledge management tool designed to help users explore the existing evidence on linkages between nature and people from published evidence syntheses. This portal allows users to access interactive dashboards that visualise patterns and trends in evidence synthesis datasets and customize to their needs.
- Conservation EvidenceA free, authoritative information resource with evidence from the scientific literature about the effects of conservation interventions, such as methods of habitat or species management.
