What is Believe it or Not?

45 minute appointment"Is it reasonable to believe ..." kickstarts the topic question for the Core 1 Critical Thinking & Communication essay. As an undergraduate student, you may not have had the opportunity to use academic research in providing evidence for your argument points in essay writing.  The Believe it or Not session is finding and evaluating research to help you with your pseudo-science essay topic. 

 

Get started by booking an appointment with a Bond Librarian. Be sure to choose a long (45 minute) session.

In this 45 minute session you will:

  • Navigate to and find quality information using Bond Library and selected academic databases
  • Find academic research to provide evidence for your arguments
  • Use advanced search techniques in academic databases
  • Evaluate information using the Currency, Relevancy, Authority, Purpose (CRAP) methods
  • Understand why acknowledging information (citing, referencing) to prevent plagiarism is so important
  • Learn how to use dynamic open-access media for presentation.

Linking your work to academic evidence will show a higher level of analysis giving you the opportunity to improve your marks.

This session helps prepare students for the Core 1 key essay assessment and develops skills to transfer to all your Bond subjects ... and beyond. After the session provide one reflection to Beyond Bond to receive 5 Points!
