Finding datasets using Google
Google Dataset Search - discover data sets hosted in thousands of repositories across the web.
Google Trends - measures what people are searching for right now with the ability to embed and download the data as a csv file.
The open web provides a number of resources for finding data. Try these search techniques:
- Use Google Advanced Search
- Include search terms like data or table
- Use other keywords by incorporating OR (e.g football OR rugby OR soccer)
- Search for a particular document type (e.g. sport participation filetype:xls)
- Search for data on a particular site or domain such has a Government report using .gov.au
Government data sets
- .id CommunityDemographic resources and in-depth information for over 300 local government areas and suburbs in Australia and New Zealand.
- Australian Government DataData.gov.au provides an easy way to find, access and reuse public data.
- Gov HackGovHack is an annual Open Data competition held across Australia and New Zealand.
- Research Data AustraliaYou can find, access, and reuse research data from over 100 Australian organizations, agencies, and institutions. The data is not stored there, but it provides descriptions and links to partner sites.
- AgSurfFind data on agricultural industries from the Department of Agriculture.
