Creating links in iLearn

There are three ways to create links and provide access to a Resource List from within your iLearn subject site. See the table below for the types of links and the method to use to create the link.

Type Content Extensions menu in iLearn Books & Tools menu in iLearn Share option in the Resource List
Create a link to an item within the list.
Create a link to a section within the list
Create a link to the list.

When the Resource List is rolled over for the next semester, links to Resource Lists in iLearn will take you to the new list once it's published. This means you don't need to manually update links each time the subject is offered (unless a section or item was deleted from the list).

Options

Using the Content Extensions in iLearn you can create links to sections or items in the Resource List.

Steps:

  1. Starting from your subject in iLearn, click the plus icon in the Content area from the location you want to create a link, e.g. within a learning module, folder or document and then select Content Extensions:
  2. Scroll down the list of tools and select Resource List Content:
  3. The Resource List link selection window will open. Select the checkbox next to the section or item you want to create a link for and click the Select button:
Screenshot of the link selection feature.
  4. The link is now created:
  5. You can edit the title, description and visibility of the link if required.

The Resource List link in the Books & Tools menu in iLearn is always visible to students. You can also create a link from this menu to your Resource List in the Content area in your iLearn subject site.

Steps:

  1. Starting from your subject in iLearn, open the Books & Tools menu:
  2. Click on the plus icon next to Resource List:
  3. The Resource List link is added to the bottom of the Content area and is hidden from students by default:
  4. You can edit the title and description as well as change its visibility.

You can copy shareable links to the list, section or item within the Resource List. These links are best for situations where you want to share with students from within a Word document, an announcement in iLearn or other methods outside of the iLearn subject site.

Steps:

  1. Starting from your subject in iLearn, open the Books & Tools menu and select Resource List.
  2. Click on the share icon next to the list details, section or item:
    • Share the list:
    • Share a section:
    • Share an item:
  3. Click on the Copy shareable link... button:
  4. Paste the link into your document or where ever you're planning to share it.
