Image

The image reference type is used when you refer to an image in the text but do not copy it into your paper. If you include a copy of an image in your paper, use the Figure reference type. Images that you create yourself don't require a reference. 

General format

Author, A. A. (Year, Month Day). Image title [Format]. Publisher. URL

Style notes

  • If you are including the image in your paper, format as a figure in APA style, with a number and descriptive title.
  • If the license associated with the image states “no attribution required,” then you do not have to provide an APA Style reference, in-text citation, or copyright attribution.
